Stipendium Hungaricum – Summary for Bachelor’s applicants
The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme offers international students the opportunity to study in Hungary at bachelor level with financial support from the Hungarian government. It includes tuition-free education, a monthly stipend, accommodation support, and medical insurance.
Who can apply (Bachelor level)
- Be international students (not Hungarian citizens)
- Be nominated by their sending partner (e.g. ministry, embassy, scholarship authority)
- Have completed or be completing secondary school (high school diploma required before enrolment)
- Meet programme-specific language and academic requirements
Application process (BA/BSc)
The application follows several main steps:
1. Choose your study programme
- Available programmes differ by country
- Applicants can select up to 2 programmes
- Programmes are mainly taught in English
2. Contact your sending partner
- You must also apply through your country’s official nominating authority
- Each partner may have its own procedures and deadlines
3. Apply online
- Register in the DreamApply system (apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu)
- Upload all required documents (motivation letter, school certificate, etc.)
- Requirements depend on study level and nationality
4. Submit by the deadline
- Example deadline for 2026/2027 intake: 15 January 2026 (2 pm CET)
5. Nomination and selection
- Sending partners nominate candidates
- Universities/Colleges review applications and may organise entrance exams or interviews

- Nov–Dec: programme search + partner contact
- Dec–Jan: online application and document upload
- January: application deadline
- Feb–spring: nomination, evaluation, admission decisions

- No tuition fees
- Monthly stipend (~HUF 43,700)
